Recommended Products!

Here's some items I personally recommend to help you with your puppy journey! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases which go back into all the enrichment and tools used to help puppies thrive before coming home with you.

Puppy Pads - Great for trips to prevent accidents from causing a mess in your car!

Stain and Oder EliminatorAlways deodorize an area your puppy uses the restroom in the house to prevent them from thinking that is where they can go!

TOYS! - one of my favorite toys that puppies seem to love.

Training Treats While I recommend at least for the first month to use a puppy's daily food intake for training, once you start to upgrade to higher distraction environments, these treats are great! Just remember the more treats you give that day, the less calories of food a puppy needs that day.

Teething Sticks - Great to help your puppy settle during their teething stage.

Freezable Teething Toys - These are a life savor especially when it's hot to help them cool while giving them something to chew on in a safe manner. I recommend always supervising and removing as soon as they melt/puppy is done with them and refreezing them with more water.

Nylon and Rubber Bone - Great for those tough chewers and to also help promote good teeth health!

Paw and Nose Balm - I always recommend applying paw and nose balm after every bath to promote healthy paws and noses.

Food Puzzle Great way to get your puppy thinking and also help slow feed them if they are prone to eating too fast as well.

Nail Clippers - The Miller Forge brand is by far the best I've ever used. Long lasting and a necessity for your puppy. (As always I am here for tips and tricks for nail trimming).

Get prepared before bringing your furry friend home!

A nice milestone timeline of what to do with your labrador as they are growing!

So many helpful information regarding Labradors and helpful resources for those that have spent years dedicating themselves to this wonderful breed and bettering the breed.

Many Labradors can be genetically prone to obesity and this article helps explain why.

There is no specific treatment for the POMC gene mutation in dogs, but you can help regulate your dog's weight by:

  • Managing their diet: Feed your dog smaller meals more frequently to help them feel full and avoid overeating. You can also try using puzzle toys or slow-feed bowls to slow down how fast they eat.

  • Exercising your dog: Make sure your dog gets enough exercise to maintain a healthy weight.

  • Tracking their weight: Monitor your dog's weight and body condition score to make informed decisions about their diet and exercise.

  • Using their food motivation: You can use your dog's high food motivation as a positive incentive during training. I recommend using your puppy's daily food as their training "treats" the first few months at home. Not only does this create an amazing bond as your puppy works for their daily food, it helps prevent them from gaining weight from too many calories from normal treats. Always remember if you are having a big training session with normal treats to cut back on their dog food that day to help balance out the calories.

  • Providing nutritious food: Make sure your dog has access to nutritious food to keep them satisfied.
